The sixth amendment: do candidates believe in it?

Dear Editor, I decided to attend law school in 1983 when I was over 40 years old and after I was well established in my medical specialty. Because the military had paid for my medical degree, I decided to use my V.A. Educational benefits to pay for my law degree.

The YCN gems are appreciated

Dear Editor, Read and re-read issues of YCN accumulate in a pile on our farm kitchen table like a pile of colorful little western boots in a kid’s Rodeo event. Just want to thank you for a great little newspaper that isn’t afraid to meet the challenges of differentiated opinions.

Stick to the outdoors in the Outdoors column please

Dear Editor, Because we have a crab apple tree in our backyard full of food for our friends, deer, birds, squirrels, plus one rabbit who stays in the woodpile, I enjoy reading Carl Wolf’s Outdoors column in the paper each week.  But, he should stay away from the subject of politics because it only builds fences, […]

Questioning the candidates is a civic duty

Dear Editor, This letter is to encourage Montana voters to listen to and question our candidates running for political positions in the state, rather than just listening to the political ads telling us how unqualified a candidate is because he was born out of state despite their years of good public service to Montanans. Yes […]

Why not get paid a fair wage for the jobs we do?

Dear Editor, Krayton Kerns sometimes is close to the truth. He is worried about the progressivism, liberalism and others; I am worried about the Capitalist pyramid scam. Take away the little guy’s business and liveli-hood by fees, licenses, permits and unrealistic regulations, include mandatory insurance, loans with large interest rates and taxes–all this money going […]

Congrats on the County Legal Contract

Jonathan, et al: It’s hard for a politician to publicly admit they are wrong, but in this case, I’m happy to eat crow (in bold type!) and watch you continue to grow. Congratulations on winning the contract for Yellowstone County’s legal notices! Admittedly, I wasn’t certain the direction your paper was going to take back […]

Climate science projections are not actual science

Dear Editor, I remember learning from my grade school history classes that bloodletting was a consensus medical procedure used by most doctors.  In fact, our first president, George Washington, strongly believed in the practice and actually ordered the bloodletting that took his life.  Marie Antoinette was subject to bloodletting as she was birthing her first […]

Free everything: who will pay for it

Dear Editor, Today there is much interest in providing life’s essentials to everyone free of charge. Of course, those reviled rich will pay for it! We must remember the rich will eventually include anyone with a job. Anyone who refuses to work or feels like working does not fit their life style will feel like […]

YCN is starting to flex!

Dear Editor, Great job with the separate school pages pullout now with some live sports.  You’re starting to really flex. I’m enjoying watching your success so far. You’re killing it.  Keep going full speed ahead.

Great job on the paper!

Dear Editor, Jonathan, congratulations on the success of YCN. Joy or I will drop by your office to renew our subscription. I’ve been wondering about the status of all that junk/construction equipment on the east side of the road just before you enter Huntley.
