I Welcome Open Lines of Communication, But Don’t lie to us.
Well, Folks, we have tried to make sure our articles are factual, current and hyper-local in regards to things going on and local information in this area. About 1/3 of our stories are from individuals who call us, text us, or just give us tips to follow up on. However, if we get something wrong, […]
Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!!!
Well Folks, it’s been very busy this last couple months with YCN Sports, kids, work, and everything else that life has thrown at me. However, I’m still standing and we’re making progress with everything we have going on. We’ve got one more week of YCN Sports broadcasts as three of our schools have made it […]
Misrepresenting an Uncertain Position
Bashful U.S. Sen. Tim Sheehy, R-Montana, expects the Montana media to be guilty of “misrepresenting” his position on birthright citizenship and “gaslighting their readers, as they usually do.” It would be hard to misrepresent his position, since nothing in his Feb. 15 opinion piece in the Billings Gazette explains exactly what his position is. He […]
Why Don’t We Play the National Anthem at the Beginning of ALL MHSA Sporting Events in Montana?
Folks, I was at St. Labre High School last week for another YCN Sports broadcast covering one of our three local high school’s basketball games where instead of playing our “National” Anthem, we all stood at attention and listened to their “Flag” song. This has also happened at Lodge Grass over the last couple years […]
McNiven Meanderings: I’M NOT THE ONE RUNNING FOR PUBLIC OFFICE
Folks, this last Tuesday, Heights Water District Candidate, Michael Macki (who I don’t know and have never met), came into our office and placed a ‘letter to the editor’ (LTE) on behalf of Judy Bailey. I was not at the office when he came in on Tuesday morning. I asked my staff member who brought […]
Meanderings: Basketball, MT Senate Chaos, Wasteful Cleanup are all Underway
Well, Folks, there’s a lot going on, so I’ll write the cliff notes version this week about the Montana Legislature, National DOGE savings and Democrats whining, and we’ll broadcast all the basketball games this week on YCN Sports and Radio.
McNiven Meanderings: MT Legislature & HS Basketball
Well, Folks, here’s my cliff notes for this week: MT legislature and high school basketball. 1. The Montana Legislature is underway, and I was able to get time to go up to Helena last week in between and get a Yellowstone County Delegation 2025 photo. Getting a picture with everyone is a big feat, but […]
McNiven Meanderings: Lives of Yellowstone County
Did You Know Them? Well, Folks, last week’s paper was our Christmas Edition as this week is our “Lives of Yellowstone County” special edition. This is our 3rd time we’ve done this special publication and paper honoring, remembering and reflecting on those who have passed away this last year 2024. We chose to start this […]
McNiven Meanderings: The calm before the storm
Folks, this is the calm before the storm for the election season is ending. In fact, it kind of feels eerie to a point as this is our edition before the election. I feel good about Trump winning BUT I felt that way as well when he lost in 2020, so I’m not sure what […]
