Well Folks, it’s been very busy this last couple months with YCN Sports, kids, work, and everything else that life has thrown at me. However, I’m still standing and we’re making progress with everything we have going on.

We’ve got one more week of YCN Sports broadcasts as three of our schools have made it to the last week of the season and will be at the state tournaments.

Good luck to Skvyiew lady Falcons, Huntley Project lady Red Devils and the boy Shepherd Mustangs this week. We’ve got you covered for all our teams on www.ycnsports.com and YCN Radio 101.1 FM-Billings. We also have all the brackets uploaded there as well as game times.

I want to take the rest of my space this week to send out a special thank you to all those neighbors, firefighters and emergency services personnel who responded to a wicked fire that broke out on Sunday near our house with 50-60 mile an hour winds. The fire broke out along Yellowstone Trail and then went east from there which was a scary situation. Even my neighbor’s house was saved by the Worden Fire department as the fire was right up next to his propane tank and big garage. I was fortunate that I only had some melting on our car hauler trailer and utility trailer. One of my neighbors did not fare so well as his house burned to the ground. My heart goes out to Les as he will now have to decide what to do. I’d encourage anyone else able to join and help with his loss.

I never thought in a million years that I would have to think about a fire coming across my fields toward my house to have to scramble to protect it as we had to. We only had about five minutes, to prepare. Thank you, once again, for all those who came to help.

You never know when you will have to lean on your neighbors, locals and emergency services personnel for situations like this. My neighbor’s house was saved by the local fire department as you can see in one of the pictures in my article here.

Now that it’s over and I look back on it, I’m sure glad we cut all the hay last summer as it really minimized the amount of fuel that fire was able to use up. I’m also glad I also put up a concrete barrier and retaining wall the last two years to help protect the house area.

Anyhow, once again, Thank you, thank you, thank you to all those who came to the rescue.

It’s times like these that one really appreciates the help and support from family, friends, neighbors and emergency personnel.

I hope I never have to scramble like that again to protect my house and family.

In the meantime, see you in the paper.
