Dear Editor,
Heights Water District customers have something to be Thankful for ….
Last Wednesday, April 16, 4 of the 6 Board of Directors, voted against the more expensive option, to address the “Low Pressure Issue”, in the Lake Hills area.
Instead, they voted to support the most Cost-Effective Alternative, with the “Rate Payers” in mind.
Based on information, supplied by Louis Engels (the City of Billings, Engineer), and the Montana DEQ; a double check valve assembly, is NOT required, for a second metered connection to the City’s water supply to the Heights Water District.
Why would the Montana DEQ make this concession? Because the water supplied to the Heights Water District, is no different than the water supplied to the rest of the City. It ALL comes from the same source.
The Heights Water District does not produce water. They buy it from the City, and resell it to Heights Water District customers, at a profit.
The profit they make, is paid by You; The Heights Water District customers.
This “profit” provides benefits (Wages, and Salaries, Health Insurance, Retirement, etc.) to Heights Water District managers, and employees, above and beyond, what their counterparts, who work for the City earn.
The Heights Water District Board of Directors, who voted to save you money are: Greg Erpenbach, Jeff Essmann, Frank Ewalt, and Doug Kary.
The Board Members, who voted against the best interest of the Heights Water District customers are; Tom Zurbuchen, and Ming Cabrera.
You might want to keep that in mind, for the upcoming election, next month.
