Roy Lynn Browning passed away at the age of 73 in Shepherd, MT on April 21, 2025.

Roy Lynn was born on November 22, 1951 to the late Roy J Browning and the late Elizabeth Browning in Rotan, Texas. Roy Lynn attended the school of hard knocks where he  graduated with honors.

He worked as a cowboy his whole life on ranches from Texas to Montana and every state in between. He loved riding a good horse, even if he did call them a dink. But that was Roy Lynn, hard and gruff on the outside and a heart of gold on the inside, a true man of his word.

Roy Lynn loved his kids and grandchildren, and would tell you about them any chance he could. He also loved their momma more than life itself and would talk to “Babe” regularly even though they were no longer married.  It was a running joke between the kids that his dog “Scratch” was the favorite child, that girl went everywhere with him.  You could always catch Roy Lynn at a roping or at a poker table pressing his luck.  He was a true patriot with his love of this great country and fought for her in the Vietnam War.  His favorite time of year was when “Montana had her Sunday britches on”.

Roy Lynn is proceeded in death by his father Roy J Browning, stepmother Sandy Browning, mother Elizabeth Browning, sister Sherry Browning, sister Crystal Browning, brother Mitch Browning, and son Travis J Browning.

He is survived by his son Joe Watson and wife Kate and daughter Bailey of Hysham, MT, his son Burke Browning and daughters Gypsie and Lakota of Gatesville, TX, and his daughter Shannon Jones and husband Jacob and their son’s Cooper and Bradley-Shane of Gatesville, TX.

The family would like to send a special Thank You to his nurse Amanda Reichelt and her family for all their love and support they have shown to Roy Lynn throughout the years.

There will be a Celebration of Life on Friday April 25, 2025 at the Shepherd Lions Club Building at 2pm. Please come join the family and exchange your stories with us.
