Charles (“Mike”) Golden, of Billings, MT, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2026, at the age of 79. Born on March 28, 1947, Mike was kind and good-humored, endearing him to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. An avid car enthusiast, Mike found great joy in restoring muscle cars—a hobby that reflected his love for high-performance, high-horsepower engines and racing. He was an experienced mechanic and could get almost any vehicle or old farm truck up and running again, although he may have been best known for his skills in rebuilding carburetors.
Mike’s passion for cars was matched only by the warmth he shared with those around him. His ability to bring people together with his humor and generosity left an indelible mark on everyone he met. Mike had many lifelong friends who were of paramount support to him and his family in the last few months, to whom the family is especially grateful.
Mike is survived by his wife Toni Golden; his children Kelsey Golden and Michael Golden; his stepdaughters Dawn Webby, Brandy Webby, and Sam Webby; his grandchildren Trevor, Mason, Anne, Jared, and Remi; his great-grandchildren Waylon and Kingston; and his siblings Hallie Lavelle, John Mahan, and Joe Mahan. He was predeceased by his mother, Ethel Mahan.
Services to honor Mike’s life are being planned for a later date.
Mike will be deeply missed by all who knew him. May the memories of his kindness and laughter bring comfort to those who mourn his passing.
