Dear Editor,
Between “my” lines + Observation;
Taken from the recent David Crisp article, and I quote: “Imagine how our politics might improve if legislators dedicated themselves to honesty and compassion rather than to raw political advantage”. The first thing that came to mind was the multi-million dollar scam that took place in Minnesota under the guise of “feeding and providing for the needed / less fortunate”.
David Crisp’s views are sooooo close to 100% Democrat that he seems to ignore or challenge his party’s own errors/shortcomings. I’ve written before, that I disagree with David pretty much all the time; however, I believe he is likely a very good person and wish him good health.
Secondly, I must comment on the “personal attacks” between, I must highlight, Captain USMC Ret., George D Nilson, and Jr. MSgt. USAF/USA (Ret), Jose A. Bustos. A few points/pointers from a fellow veteran who only achieved the rank of Sergeant E-5 in my 3-year tour of duty back in the late 60’s.
- From a fellow (long time) subscriber/reader of the YCN’s, your “banting” back and forth is amusing!
- Neither of your “retired ranks” add credibility to whatever argument/view you are attempting to defend/make. Rank within the Military – YES! Rank once in the Public Sector – NO!
- My father once served as Justice of the Peace. He was “ole school”. He once shared with me two neighboring farmers who had a long-time dispute and finally appeared before him. Long story short he told them both to “GROW UP”. Not very legal/professional, however, HOW TRUE!!
- Lastly, if either Mr. Nilson, Mr. Bustos (private citizens) would GROW UP and be willing to sit down and discuss their differences over a simple cup of coffee, they just may find the other person reasonable?? You don’t have to become close friends, just respect others’ opinions different from yours.
- The down side of getting together to discuss/know personally would likely mean no more amusing “letters to the editor”!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
